I am sick, with chest pains! I think It may be an asthma attack because I cannot breathe! What do I do? Help!?I went to the hospital today in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I could not breathe well, and was coughing badly. I was seen only by a nurse practitioner and had to wait almost 6 hours to get in, despite that I could not breathe and was coughing. I was never seen by a doctor, not once, and they did no x-rays to see if I had pnemonia. I asked "do I have swine flu?" and without any tests the nurse told me, "No. You don't have swine flu."
I want to know, how did she do this diagnosis without any tests? Is it written on the forehead in big red letters whether someone has swine flu? Or was she just saying no to "reassure" me?
My chest pains are very bad now. My upper back, and my chest hurt when I cough. They told me my lungs were clear at the hospital, though they did no tests. Am I actually clear? Is there a chance I have pnemonia? Could I have swine flu?
They told me it was asthma. I am not a doctor and really do not know what to do... Any help or sugestions are appreciated, especially by members of the medical community! I will award lots of points! Please help me; thank you.

Do you have an inhaler?
If not, get one!
There is nothing worse than having trouble breathing and not being able to do anything about it. Also, get a hummidifier! It will help you breathe too.

Sometimes drs can be so unhelpful! I think you should go to another dr and get a second opinion, I have had bad experience with some drs and got a second opinion and found out i actually had an illness the other dr never looked for!

Don't you have a primary, if not go to the nearest ER that's about all you can do, are they that busy or just no one around.
You can't blame them for not being there for you, your health is your responsibility if you know you have asthma then you should have a rescue inhaler or the proper treatment for yourself.
I suggest you see your primary or an allergist and get the problem taken care of.
