4 yr old child with sore throat, fever of 103, swollen painful mouth, and breath that is very bad... very.?Gosh, I know a lot of you are going to be like.. "why isn't she taking him to the hospital.?" That is just it, we have been twice in 2 days. It is a weekend so I can not take him to his Dr yet. He is having severe sore throat, and mouth pain as well as swollen painful lips, I cant even get his temp in his mouth now, he freaks out and screams and won't let me so I now have to take it under his arm pit. His fever has been up and down for the last three days and I can't figure out what the smell is! he has no desire to get up and play he just lays there and is miserable... oh, and His breath smells terrible.. I feel bad saying that but it smells like feces? they said it's from the infection but I have never smelled anything like this before... ever! I don't know what to do for him, the ER Dr.'s have said its most likely a virus since the strep test came back neg. However, he does have white patches in the back of his throat and he was diagnosed at the er with tonsillitis. what on earth could this be? My baby is so congested he cant breathe from his nose and he keeps choking on his own fluids when he sleeps. A few times I looked at him and saw that he was not breathing and had to arouse him from his sleep to get him to breath again because since children are nose breathers he automatically breaths out of his nose even tho he can't right now because it is completely stopped up. My son has asthma so I'm worried that this "virus" is going to cause him many complications, please.. if any of you have any idea what could be wrong here I would love the feed back! Thanks,
I think you are correct, Strep sounds about right... but what about the swelling can it get so bad that it constricts their air way or cause an obstruction, I know that the tongue can when they breath through their mouths like he is doing.. god i just worry about him so much! Thaks for the advice.

Go to the ER and say "Something is wrong with my child, fix it."

I think you better find a better doctor. This sounds pretty serious. If it was my child I would not waste any time finding a doctor who will see this child immediately and stay on the case until it's solved. I hope you get past this crisis soon.

You need to see if you can get him to another hospital if the local one won't take him. Infection is nothing to play with. You need to get off the computer and do everything you can to get someone with sense to see him at the hospital.

Omg hun, please take your child back to the emergency room and demand you child to be treated immediately. Create a scene if you have to because this is very a serious matter. Don't live the ER until your son's condition improves
