Are allergy meds like benadryl good 22 month old suffering but functional with runny nose and teary eyes?Plan to take him to the doc on monday morning but wanted other input- Is it possible for the child to "toughen up" if no allergy meds are given early in life and suffer less in the later childhood years ? If allergy meds and tests are given early in life, will the child be more prone to suffer in the later childhood years?

Wait and talk to your doc, since they deal with this daily. I'm not "coping-out" on you, but there are as many different allergies, the things that cause them, and how people react over-all as there are types of stars. Be careful: Giving certain allergy-oriented meds to one so young without a doc's consent can be extremely harmful. BTW: Remember, you can call a doctor for advice occasionally without having to go in.

there fine to give, I have a 26 month old with the same problem off and on.Walmart has liquid benadryl for children this says it's for children 6 to 12 yrs of age my doc told me to take the weight of my child and give the dose in weight ratio.
per say it's 2 table spoons for 50 lbs my child weighs 26 lbs so I cut the doseage in half.And nothing about being misrable will tuffen u up just makes everyone else miserable.

You can get allergy desensitive shots. But 22 months is way too young for you to give adult doses of medicine. Let the doctor decide the dosage.
