Is there such a thing as an "allergy to light"?I ask this question because I was just...?I was just watching the Maury Show on which the theme was "Unbelievable Medical Mysteries Uncovered" and in one segment on the show, there was/we met a 5 yr. old named Kasey who is "severely allergic to light" so whenever she goes outdoors, Casey has to wear a protective outfit! Also, instead of bringing Casey out into their studio -- where there are many overhead lights, Casey was kept backstage where they aren't any lights! Can somebody help me with the answer to this question?

Yes, people can be allergic to light. It is rare but it is true.

Yes there is such a thing as an allergy to light... it can produce a rash called photodermatosis. Photosensitivity is an allergy to the sun. Also, if a person has a very severe case fluorescent lights indoors can effect them as well.

It is extremely rare. But it has happened. From what I've read of the condition, it seems to happen in families with genetic predisposition to such things.
