Suffering from shortness of breath. I'm a 17 year old male.?Well a year ago i started noticing my heart made irregular beats every once in a while. I can feel my heart through my chest due to being fairly skinny. Then on one weekend, i started getting tightness in chest. The day after i felt a severe fatigue. Lying down, my rate was the average 90ish (a bit higher than my normal). However, when i got up, it jumped to around 140 in a very short space of time. i felt extremely tired for 2 to 3 days. I was unable to do anything but lie in bed hoping for the best. We went to my clinic doctor and he says I'm having symptoms regarding "atrial fibrillation" which affects 1 in 13 people over 80. Wait, I'm17!?

Anyways i went to a specialist and they found that my heart was normal, within range of normality. NOT was i was expecting. Following the next few weeks, i stayed away form exercise. However, when i started again, i instantly felt a big, sudden need for breath whenever i suddenly jumped into an activity. Due to me being skinny, i felt my heart beating at around 140, and then suddenly stop for 1 to 2 seconds (BIG need for breath), before continuing again and repeating this cycle a few times. Around this time, i felt my stomach appeared to be bigger then normal, but would return in size after a period of time.

Few weeks later, i started feeling out of breath whenever i would lie down. I felt that my heart made a beat a split second after another, just once (few times an hour). Now, on top of that, im starting to feel out of breath over long periods of time. Not sudden sharp "out of breaths", but just a "linear: need to breathe heavier to feel satisfied.

I have been tested and the ECG shows no sign of Wolf-Parkinson. But that doesn't necessarily mean i don't have it.

Soooo, anyone know whats wrong. lol. I KNOW something isn't right. Right now I'm kind of living in fear, not knowing whether I'm ill or not. Anyone help would be appreciated. Going to the cardiologist AGAIN is what i want my final option to be. Thanks.

I'm 21 and my heart beats fairly fast even at a resting rate. It's been that way since I was a child.

It was actually a psychologist(?) psychatrist(?) who ended up putting me on propranonol (sp?) which is a substitute for Inderal and a heart medication but doubles as anti-anxiety medication. It helps my heart slow down so I have less panicky stages and my heart doesn't overwork itself.

I do not know what your condition is but it might be stress related.
