How serious is bronchitis? im worried :S isnt 14 too young to get it?yeah my girlfriends been really ill the past few days and she went to the nurse at A&E today and the nurse said she had bronchitis. My grandma used to be a nurse too, and she said she wasnt sure it was bronchitis and was probably some other "upper respiratory viral disease".
she's going to the doctors on wednesday but it's getting worse really quickly. she somtimes struggles to breath, has these asthma attack type things. her throats all sore and she coughs all the time.
how serious can bronchitis get? how about other "upper respiratory viral diseases"? how urgent is it to see a doctor?
it scares the crap out of me when she has problems breathing. and shes only 14, isnt that too young to get bronchitis?

No, 14 is not too young. Bronchitis is inflammation of the air passages. It's most often viral which means it means antibiotics are not needed. Your girlfriend should drink lots of fluids to break up the congestion and make it easier to cough out. Breathing in steam (over a pot or in a shower) can also help, as can Mucinex, Robitussin or anything with guaifenesin it. If she develops a fever and chest pains, or if the shortness of breath gets worse, she should go to the ER. Pneumonia can be a complication of bronchitis.

i got it when i was 8 and i had pneumonia with it. so suck it up.

i get bronchitis all the time its a complication of asthma its as normal to me as the common clod to other ppl its not real bad but if it goes on to long u can get pnemonia and die
