Normal Heart Rate/Tachycardia?I am a healthy 17 year old male. I bike a lot and spend plenty of time outdoors, walking and such. I have recently become worried about my unusually high heart rate. In the mornings, I have a resting heart rate of perhaps 60-65. However, simply walking somewhere will cause it to raise to 100 easily, and often over 120. Even 150 is not uncommon. Keep in mind that this is not strenuous, simply walking around my house, etc. I feel no chest pain, but occasional "shortness of breath".
I recently went to the doctor for a problem involving shortness of breath. He noticed my high heart rate and had a chest X-ray and ECG done. The results (presumably in terms of heart problems) were both "negative", but he failed to exaggerate. Since then, the high heart rate has not stopped, although it did decrease slightly.
I realize that these problems MOST LIKELY stem from anxiety, but I feel the need to investigate. First, I would like to know if this is normal. Secondly, I wonder if the simple act of measuring my heart rate (I have no heart rate monitor, so I do this the traditional way) could cause enough anxiety to raise it.
