Safety precautions of kissing someone with a peanut allergy?I've begun dating someone with a peanut allergy. I'm not familiar with the severity scale, but if they eat nuts, or anything with traces of nuts, they'll go off.
I don't have this allergy, and have always eaten nut products without even thinking about it.
What can I do to "cleanse" my mouth, such that it would be safe to kiss them?
(I'm aware not eating those foods is best. I'm looking for strategies (Like how long should I wait, or would brushing my teeth work?))

Sorry, to be absolutely safe, you must avoid the peanuts! The person with the peanut allergy's health, or your self gratification.

Looks like you already know to try and avoid nut products, but of course this can be difficult when many items have traces of nuts in them or have been cooled near them or using the same prep equipment.
I doubt there is certain time frame to wait between kissing and eating nut products so my best advice would be after each meal brush and floss your teeth and swish with some listerine.
Your significant other should be carrying an epi-pen with her at all times in case there were to ever be a reaction, you may want to carry one as well.
My cousin who is now happily married dealt with this and her husband had to be on a nut free diet as well and that is how they live. She is extremely allergic and has not had an incident yet kissing and such with her husband, but he has had to make sacrifices for this!
Good Luck and I hope everything works out for the best!

I've had the allergy all my life. There really is no good way to cleanse your mouth and be sure that you didn't miss anything (especially with you not knowing the severity of the reaction). The sad, honest truth is that you really need to switch to a nut-free diet.
I don't know how bad this persons reaction is, but for me, if I kiss a girl who just ate nuts (and if I survive long enough to get to the hospital) I'll be incapacitated for the rest of the day and miserable for a few days after. Not worth the risk.
Although on the bright side, it DOES make every kiss an adventure :)
