What's the difference between baby laundry detergents and "free of dyes and fragrances" detergents? Is it just the "baby scent"? Or are baby detergents really more gentle than "free" detergents like All Free & Clear, which claim to be for sensitive skin and allergies. The latter detergents seem to be a bit cheaper than the baby detergents, if there's no difference I'll stick with those.
TIA!

They are expensive. who really knows the answer? If there is a chance that normal detergent can harm your baby then why risk it? Normal detergents are to rough on a babies sensitive skin.

Supposedly the benefit of the baby laundry detergents is that they don't leave as much stuff on the clothes as regular, scented detergents. However, those baby laundry detergents are best for lightly soiled clothing, which quite a bit of baby laundry isn't.
I personally use the dye and fragrance free stuff because my babies have sensitive skin, and all that fragrance in stuff like Dreft is NOT so gentle on their skin.

Just more expensive. Stick with the "free & clear" detergents and you're good.

About 10 dollars :)
If you have a big lots nearby, sun makes a free and clear, I bought that to use for my second baby, one bottle was like 2.00, it got out the stains, and by the time I ran through that bottle, he was ready to use the regular detergent the rest of us use :D
