What can you tell me about the success rates of allergy desensitization therapies?I've read about people who've been to allergists and gotten treated over time for their allergies...in such a way as to no longer be allergic to the foods they were once allergic to. I am wondering if you personally know of anyone who did that, and how long/well has it worked?
I am 100% positive I'd like to undertake that so I can work with all foods, instead of just "most." :D

Desensitization programs work. You will need to receive injections of the offending substances. The doctor will decide how frequently you need those injections. Literally anyone can be desensitized to anything but the question is at what cost. How much time and energy are you willing to put into this program?
I am an Asthmatic with multiple allergies. I was desensitized to many pollens, foods etc but after two years I gave up the program and learned to avoid the allergens. I have been attack free for more than ten years. I am a RN and have acquired lots of information about allergies and how to manage them.
Success rate really depends upon your commitment, resources and your doctor's expertise. 100 % for the rest of your life will never occur even if you are 100 % dedicated.
I hope I have contributed positively to your question. Good luck with your choices.
