What would cause my cat's "sneezing" sounds?

Other people asked questions on various topics, and are still
waiting for answer. Would be great if you can take a sec and
answer them

What would cause my cat's "sneezing" sounds? She just began doing this a couple months ago. I have had her to the vets (two of them) and had blood work and x-rays. They cannot find anything wrong. They gave her an allergy shot and that didn't help. Any experts out there who can suggest a solution for me? She is 12 years old.

it might be vaccinosis from rabies vaccine. See if you can find a homeopathic veterinarian to help clear that out.

He will probably also clear the other chemicals she has had over the years.

Check with the health food store for a recommendation perhaps, IF none of the local vets are, there are some that work by email and phone to help out.

My first thought in a situation like this would be a viral infection. Two common virus' that cause sneezing in cats are the rhinotracheitis virus (herpes) and the calicivirus. Cats with herpes usually cannot get rid of this as with a cold sore in humans. These two would be of higher concern if your cat isn't vaccinated. A couple other possibilities would be a Chlamydia or mycoplasma infection. It's hard to suggest any solutions without a full workup and possibly some trial and error. Might want to suggest some of these possibilites to your vet.

Hi Justa:)

If your veterianians cannot find anything wrong with your kitty with blood work and x-rays ( an elevated white count would indicate an infection) so my suspicion would be some sort of allergic reaction to something in your home that is relatively new, or something to which she has become allergic.

Your vet probably gave her a shot of a short acting steroid as an anti-inflammatory solution. However, if the substance(s) to which your cat may have developed an allergy, one shot may not solve the problem.

My suggestion would be to seek an allergy specialist, or seek a third opinion. Sometimes the answer to a problem is not found immediately.

If your cat is not otherwise appearing ill, is not losing weight and is eating and drinking, playing and using her box getting to the bottom of what is bothering her is the best thing to do.

She is a "senior" kitty, so it is possible that whatever is in your house ( or outside your windows) may be affecting her more than when she was younger, or it is something relatively new in the environments.
