Cat with a bladder infection, fleas, and allergy!!?

These are useful and collceted by Asthma Info!

Cat with a bladder infection, fleas, and allergy!!?We recently discovered that our cat has a bladder infection. She has the usual symptoms (goes to the litter box often, pees very little). We took her to the vet and found out that not only does she have a bladder infection, but she also has fleas, AND an allergic reaction to the plastic food bowls that her food is in (weird allergy!!). We have her on 2 medicines for the fleas and the infection, and bought metal bowls. But I am still feeling so bad for her! Are any of these "illnesses" causing her pain? What can I do to comfort my cat as much as possible until she is 100% well??
Please don't say "TAKE HER TO THE VET NOW!!" We already did, and she is on her medications. I just want to know what I can do to comfort her until she is well.

Not sure what you can do in the way of comforting her. Hopefully the antibiotics they gave you for the bladder infection will alleviate some of her discomfort quickly. Does she happen to be an orange cat? Just curious as I've known several people that had orange cats that were allergic to plastic.

Well, you could start by treating your home and yard and cat for fleas. I can hardly believe you didn't notice that your cat has fleas, unless of course if you never touch the cat.
Then you could do what the vet says and take care of your cat according to his instructions.

Bladder infections are painful, but the antibiotics should be helping with that.
Fleas are not painful, they'll only make her itch, so they can be uncomfortable, but not painful. Just be sure to vacuum everything and often, including the furniture, and launder all sheets, blankets and throws. I'm sure there's lots of flea eggs around your house, and you need to get rid of them.
The allergy is unlikely to be painful.
As for comfort, give her lots of love and praise, and a treat every now and then never hurts (especially after giving her the medicine). You could also put a fleece blanket in her favourite napping spot and wash it often (for the fleas).

If the fleas are all completely gone from your house (bombed), and you are keeping up on her medicine, there's really nothing else you could do for her.

As far as I know, cats with bladder infections are only really in pain when they are trying to go, so that's not something to be worried about. Fleas are irritating to any animal, but now that they're being treated, you probably don't have to worry about that too much. And her allergies are being avoided, so you don't have to worry about that anymore.

If she does seem like she's in a little bit of pain, just let her be. Cats instinctively want to run and hide from pain, and your interfereing with that could only upset her more. Just make sure that she has a quiet place to retreat to if she needs to be alone.

I can tell that you are a very responsible and loving pet owner, and want to do everything you can for your cat. This is probably the hardest thing to do, but it's the best: just leave her alone. If she comes to you for attention, give it to her. Feel free to approach her and pet her often, but for the most part, just let her be alone.

If you didn't feel good, you wouldn't want all of your friends coming over and making you play sports or something. It's the same way with her. For now, she just wants (and needs) to relax. The medicine might make her feel not quite right, and since you can't explain to her why she doesn't feel that way, just give her her space.

I had a cat who was very, very sick once (swallowed radiator fluid and almost died). I kept her closed in a bedroom where the other animals couldn't bother her, and came in quietly to visit her her force feed her liquids. She was better in a few days, and I believe a lot of that was that I let her rest in a quiet room away from the stress that the other animals and all the outside noises would have caused her.
