How can I care for my "outdoor cat"? Need advice.?

Hi,I did the following:

How can I care for my "outdoor cat"? Need advice.?I have been feeding a stray cat that lives in the garden of my apartment building (she's an outdoor cat). I can't take her home, but I want to deworm her as well as give her medication for fleas and ticks. Is that advisable? Since she's an outdoor cat, will she end up having worms and fleas etc anyway even if I give her medication? I can't take her home because my dad's got really bad allergies... The cat looks about 5 months old, and her stomach looks a bit "bloated", so I assume she's got some worms in there. How can I care for this stray better?

She must go to the vet. You cannot treat her the way she need's with otc med's.

You can do both, you just need her weight and to get hold of her. Both will eventually need repeated because she is still outside but if your willing it shouldnt be a problem. I have 3 stray kittens that hang out at my door, all 3 are treated with advantage for cats so they don't shake fleas off in my yard or on my porch. I wormed them once and feed them daily and will repeat worming about every 3 months.

Your vet can sell you what you need, explain that the cat is a stray and you just want to help. Most vets have some sort of heart, if not call another vet. Please do not use hartz products on her, many animals have died because of their products.

call a no-kill shelter and ask their advice. maybe they can find her a home bc she is young and ppl love kittens. good luck!
