Asthma Info: Why do some people feel allergic to "Vehicle" smells?

Hi,I did the following:

Why do some people feel allergic to "Vehicle" smells?What do we call that allergy and what is the reason? They vomit when in car or bus...seems like they don't like smell of all that plastic crap...How can we stop that happening? Please be serious. Any help will be appreciated...even links to helpful sites. Thanks!

That "vehicle" smell is actually the residual monomers degassing from the plastic. Most likely vinyl chloride or polyol/isocyantes (from urethanes). If you had a cup of gasoline and stuck your nose above it, what would you smell? ...intense hydrocarbon vapors. It would be enough to make you sick. The odor in a vehicle from the plastics is at a very, very low level but still present. Some people are more susceptible to those vapors.
