Can a person DEVELOP a mosquito allergy?

Can a person DEVELOP a mosquito allergy?i'm one of those people who goes outside and gets bitten by 10 mosquitos. i've always been like that. this year i've been away for the last part of the summer (august) and the school year. i returned home in may and got a few bug bites (3 at different times) that have swelled to the size of half dollars, or about 1 to 1 1/4" diameter.

I've never been allergic before! Is it because I've been away? Do I have some random disease? I am currently healthy (as far as i know) Help!
