Does anyone out there have an allergy to lidocaine? Were youi tested and what is the testing like?I had lidocaine injections once a week for over 2 months and each time I had a reaction to it and it got worse each time. I knew something wasn't right but the Doctor told me "you can't be allergic to lidocaine" I got extremely sick after all the injections and have been tested for all kinds of stuff. My primary doctor told me that if I did have an allergic reaction it could take weeks to months for it to get out of my system. I am feeling better now and it's been 3 weeks since the last one. I also now seem to be allergic to so many things,..it's nuts. I'm curious what the testing is like since I'm going next week to be tested.

Thanks for your answers

I can only comment on the allergy to lidocaine part..

Your physician is correct. You cannot be allergic to lidocaine but you can and some people have been found to be allergic to the preservative in the lidocaine.

There are testing methods out there but I think they are usually done for those who develop a full blown anaphylactic reaction to it.

As your doc to check the bottle for any preservatives next time and to use a preservative free lidocaine the next time you go in.
