"Fancy" recipes using ground beef or other cheaper cuts?

Hi,I did the following:

"Fancy" recipes using ground beef or other cheaper cuts?I'm planning on throwing a fancy party for a few friends, and thanks to allergies and my wallet I'm severely limited as to what I can put on the menu. So what I'm looking for is recipes that look, sound and taste high-end, but won't kill my budget.

You could look up the recipes on footnetwork.com or allrecipes.com for the Greek dishes Pastichio (lasagna-like) or Moussaka (ground beef and slices of eggplant with a cheese top). Individuals could make their own tacos if you lay out all the ingredients. That's probably the least expensive.

With a medium-sized piece of London Broil, you could make feijoda, the Brazilian shredded beef and black-bean soup, and offer it with a crusty garlic bread and a salad.

If you have some pastry experience, you could make spicy Jamaican beef patties with a pinch of curry in the crust dough for color and zip. (Ground beef.)

You can Google all these recipes and search around for the ones that sound the best. Good luck!

The best thing is to combine your meat with something filling such as pasta or dough. Maybe eat pies, empanadas or even something pre-made like Buitoni?

You can make virtually any recipe cheaper by changing the cuts of meat that you buy.
Instead of chicken breasts, use bone-in thigh/leg quarters. You can buy a bag of about 13 quarters for $ 2.50 at Walmart. Instead of steak you can use either ground beef or flank in most recipes.
Instead of roast beef make pot roast. Also, Tillapia fish is incredibly inexpensive and can be used in place of any other white fish.

Heres how to make empanadas if you decide to go with them :)

Add vegetables to it to create bulk. If you like, you can try my family recipe. It's a curry that can be eaten with rice or any type of bread. When you see (O) next to an ingredient it means you need not add this if you don't have any or can't find it in your supermarket as the spices are Asian in origin.

Heat oil. Crackle some cumin(O). Saute diced onion, add diced ginger, add diced garlic and diced green chilli. Skip the chilli if you don't want it to be hot. Chilli is Asian pepper.

Add coriander powder, cumin powder, tumeric powder(O) and red chilli powder(O). Saute until fragrant.

Add generous amount of diced tomatoes that have been skinned and deseeded. Add some kind of stock and salt. Stir well. Add some water.

Add the meat. If not using ground beef, cut up the meat into thin small pieces.

Add these vegetables that have been cut into medium size pieces - cauliflower, potatoe, carrot, peas.

When curry is done, taste for salt and add more if necessary, turn off fire. Add 2 spoonfuls of Ghee(O) (Indian clarified butter). Mix well.

Sprinkle with chopped fresh coriander(O). You can also use dried coriander. Mix this together with the spices.

Leave curry aside for at least half hour for the flavours to infuse.
