my friend blames her 5 yr old son's behavior on his peanut allergy?he is totally out of control- hits, screams, demands, throws fits.
she rationalizes that he is that way becuase he has a peanut allergy & she says that he is a frustratd person because he never got to live a "normal" life because he cant eat peanuts & because he has to be careful all of the time & is aware of his "condition". so he doesnt feel like a normal person or something...
is that the biggest load you ever heard, or what?

Sounds like someone needs a reality check, and their son needs some discipline.

i would say its more likely to be ADHD.
she needs to get him checked out...
edit Stevie its fools like you that make stupid comments like that
my son jesse was a lovely little boy until he hit 5 years old then things changed as soon as he started school he was in trouble 4 out of the 5 days a week. we had him to doctor after doctor seeking answers to why. finally we had him tested for adhd got him his med and he is now 10 years old and top two in his class
so dont tell me its a cop out from parents because nothing else has changed except his med.
so Stevie before next time you open your mouth think first....

Well my son is allergic to peanuts and he actually more behaved than my other son. He knows he can't have peanuts and he has gotten use to all the adjustments. Sure he gets upset sometimes that he has to miss out on some things at parties because of the allergy but I always try to bring something he can eat. She is just making excuses and that will only make things worse. He will just figure he can do anything because his mommy will cover for him. He will also learn to make excuses for his behaviors and won't ever learn to take responsibility for his actions.

give the kid a peanut......... that'll shut him up. Seriously, you're right, that's a huuuuuuuuge parental cop-out.
