Can bronchitis become asthma?Over a month ago I started having a really horrible cough and chest pains and I started puking when I coughed too hard. It was mostly a dry cough with little to no phlem. So I went to the doctor and he told me I had acute bronchitis. I was given an inhaler (Dulera) and an anti-biotic.. I'm bad about taking my medicine regularly but I do take it when I remember. But about a week ago I started getting these AWFUL coughing fits where I stop being able to breathe and I start wheezing and coughing and hacking like I'm about to puke and it eventually goes away but it comes at really random times. I'm wondering if this is still my bronchitis because I have been bad about taking my medicine or if it is turning into asthma or even something else. Or was I just misdiagnosed in general. If you have any further questions or need more details I'll be happy to provide them if it means you can help me. Thank you.
*oh and sidenote, I was just looking online at something called "cough-variant asthma", maybe this is it? Thank you again.

Yes and vice versa.
Usually both of those conditions are like best friends, you get one, you will most likely encounter the other.
I had severe bronchitis when I was very young, and also asthma at the same time, now I just have asthma but my doctor told me my bronchitis could come and go as it pleases.
I feel your pain, these conditions aren't fun but don't let them get in your way!
Main cause of my conditions were allergies, I took zyertec before it became over the counter prescribed my doctor and it really helped my allergies and asthma! Also for bronchitis you might need this special evaporizing system i think its called a nebulizer. It helped me immensely, hopefully these conditions won't bother you too much though! Good luck!
