Asthma Info: I have asthma?

Hi,I did the following:

I have asthma?I've had this cough ever since the beginning of November. It happens to me almost every year I get a cough for months that won't go away. Well I went to this doctor that my job provides and he had me take a series of breathing tests and even put me on some machine that had cold air of some sort coming out of it into my lungs then he had me go for chest xrays. He said they came back clean and clear no signs of any infection or disease. He said that his only diagnosis he can come up with is Asthma. I told him "but I only get in during the cold seasons" and he said "it's seasonal, kinda like allergies." I think it is wrong, I guess just because I can't believe "I" would have it.
Actually Matt A. That was EXACTLY the test I took, right on the nose! And everything you said right down to the "drop" in my flows is on target!

he is correct in saying you may have seasonal asthma.
cold weather is always trouble for people with asthma.
i suggest you take the meds he told you too and wear a scarf over you nose and mouth at least at first when you go out once you have adjusted to the temp you may take it off .
but on very cold days you have to take it really easy that is life.

It sounds like chronic bronchitis to me, not asthma.

sounds like asthma to me. Asthma has two components..the noisy flares (what you have when the asthma is triggered) and the silent inflammation that is always present and is causing irreversable damage to the respiratory system.

two very good sites for info: http://www.nationaljewish.org and http://www.ginasthma.com take some time and read through them.

Ask your doctor to refer you to a pulmonologist or an allergy and asthma specialist. You need a doctor who is trained in asthma and can explain your condition to you thoroughly. You also need a good treatment plan and an asthma action plan. The goal of asthma management is to control the silent inflammation so that when exposed to triggers flares do not occur.
