"That's a shame, you know, creating problems for elderly persons just is not good under any circumstance," Tanner said, according to video posted on YouTube. "Of course, that also ties into the racial aspect because our society is such that minorities don't become elderly the way white people do. They die first.
"There are inequities in health care. There are a variety of inequities in this country, and so anything that disproportionately impacts the elderly has the opposite impact on minorities. Just the math is such as that," Tanner said.

"Mr. Tanner is an attorney who works to protect civil rights on a daily basis," Ablin said, adding that the official had won numerous awards from African-American groups. "Nothing in his comments deviated from his firm commitment"
Nothing racist about what he said, if that is how you feel than you agree that BArry and Rev Wright both said racist things, because his words are the same as theirs.

Because this guy make racist remarks just like some Rep's do. This guy in the Justice Dept make other remarks over the years that was sexist and racist over the years.

He used the "correlation is causation" logical fallacy to explain minority differences. Its clearly an irresponsible use of persuasive materials. Its no different than when Nobel laureate Dr. James Watson was fired last year.
Say dumb racial things using logical flaw = fired. It doesn't matter what he did before that or what his positions are... it matters that he used a deceptive logical flaw to support a potentially insidious viewpoint and there should be no place for that in legitimate discourse.
Using the same line of questioner's logic concerning past good deeds, it would be impossible for a child molester to work at a day care center. After all... they do so much good for the kids.

Because the remarks are, as Obama said, erroneous. What is your definition of "elderly"? 65? While it's clear minorities die earlier on average, they still reach old age quite readily.
My source is for quite a few years ago, but I can only assume it's gotten better since then.
