friends and friendship???I am writing a paper and i am having trouble stating why friends are essential. I am using this quote from Dr. Robin Smith (from the Oprah show) and need to support it...
"The heart of the matter is this: Friends are essenial...They are as important as the air you and I breathe."
If you could help me with this thank you so much!!! Please put some thought into this, and don't slop down thoughtless answers.

Well if the quote is from a m.d. or ph.d fellow, then think...there must be studies that document how friendships benefit our health, emotions, social networks, ability to discuss problems and come up with solutions, so see if you can google some research studies, I'm sure you'll find a lot. Find 3 ways that friendships benefit people and take it from there. Me personally, I'd work at it backwards, find the research, and use what I find to make my point, not the other way around

Humans are social creatures. Seldom we see people who have spent their entire life living in a secluded environment.
We need company and support of others to establish ourself in society.
Friends are a marvelous invention of society.They are persons we feel most comfortable talking to. When we consider someone as our friend we feel that they are a part of us, they would think like us and would substantiate our views and opinions.
For eg : If we feel that one of our teacher sucks, it would only be seconded by our friends and not by our parents, since they see things from a different perspective.
Friends are people with whom we can be youthful, or commonly termed as " being ourselves".
So as Dr.Robin said "The heart of the matter is this: Friends are essenial...They are as important as the air you and I breathe."
