How successful are allergy shots?

These are useful and collceted by Asthma Info!

How successful are allergy shots?I have been receiving allergy shots for about a year now and still can't help but think "is this really helping?" I like to think its controlling my allergies but I would like any opinions. I have seen a dramatic change in my eczema which is pretty amazing.

In a way, you have answered your own question. If you are seeing an improvement in your eczema...then some facet of your allergy control is working.
In general, immunotherapy is more effective on environmental allergy than food allergy and it is more effective with year-around allergy than seasonal rhinitis. If you are seeing results, I would stay with it for another 6 months. Many times, you don't get extra results after 18 months, but talk to your allergist or immunologist about what is going on.
Glad you are doing something that is working for ya

I had a series of allergy shots that lasted nine years. For me, it took two years for the shots to start helping and three more years to get the maximum benefits. I could not tell any improvement after only one year. It has been six years since I discontinued the shots and my allergies still are much better than they used to be. It is worth it to stick with it.
