I have a a nut allergy, but I have some cookies that "May contain nuts."?

Hi,I did the following:

I have a a nut allergy, but I have some cookies that "May contain nuts."?I heard that they just have to put that on the label because it is made in the same factory, so there is a super small chance of it happening. Is this true? Can I eat these cookies?

Yeah they do have to put that on there if thats true if they don't it's illegal. And alot of times the cookies or whatever run on a shared or multiuesed conveyor belt or something like that. And depends on your severity of the allergy, If you touch a nut and instantly breakout or something than no. But if you can eat a small amount and are okay, its probably fine as long as you don;t eat to many.

The only way for you to weigh up the risk properly is to phone the manufacturer. They will be able to give you some more info-eg the cookies may be made on the same production line as something that has nuts in it (high risk of contamination), they may be made in the same factory as something made with nuts (different line)-lesser risk, they may be stored in the same factory as other products that contain nuts...etc etc.
Its up to you to determine the risk associated with eating them, but to do that you need more info.
cheers and good luck
