What exactly does?

What exactly does?"No Acute Pulmonary Disease" mean? I went to the Urgi-Care today and had chest x-rays done. The nurse just told me that's what the NAPD meant on my discharge papers. Thanks. BTW, I was there due to chest pain, EKG normal, but muscles are tight. Was given a breathing treatment and 600 mg of Motrin. I do have Asthma, however, I don't know what that NAPD means exactly. Thanks to all that answer.
I had blood taken and all was negative. The ER doc was looking for a clot perhaps in the chest area. I stated before that I do have asthma, however I was given false info from my GP and went to a Pulmonary Specialist. I was told two different things. It's hard to trust my GP anymore since he has been wrong on several occasions and it was very serious. I am in-between docs now. Waiting to see my new GP.

Your best bet is to call a local hospital and and ask to speak to a 24 hour nurse line. They should be able to answer your question.

it just means you do not have any serious problems with your lungs.

Acute means Major. Pulmonary means Lungs. Disease...you know what that means. and No means No.

NAPD means that according to the chest x-ray they couldn't find any underlying pneumonia or infection. They would also have told you if they found CHF (congestive heart failure) as it also shows up on x-ray. You've stated that the EKG was normal, but did they do any other lab tests? If so, what were the results? Asthma would not show up on a x-ray, did they do a peak flow measurement before and after the treatment? Numbers? In all probablity the chest pain was a result of lacticd acid build up in the muscles between the ribs. When an asthmatic has trouble breathing, we tend to use our excessory muscles more. Since those muscle as seldom used they tire out easily and lactic acid builds up rapidly and results in pain. Just imagine trying to climb to the top of the Empire State building using the stairs without training. How badly do you think your legs would hurt. Same concept. I can't tell you how much I urge you to follow up with your doctor ASAP though to make sure that you in the clear.
