Are there TRULY dogs that are ALLERGY FREE?My daughter is allergic to dog & cat & rabbit hair, and wants a pet. I've heard there are breeds of dogs that are considered "allergy free" ... is this true? I'd hate to spend a fortune on a puppy, and find she's allergic to it. Her best friend has a dachshund (with very short hair) and it really makes my daughter feel lousy, after spending time there. Any thoughts?
P.S. My daughter is 16, driving & working part-time.

totally hairless dogs but they're always cold so they like to snuggle! or totally hairless cats they're ah-mazingly ah-dorable

There are really no truly hypoallergenic breeds.
Out of personal experience, I would say Portuguese Water Dogs do well. I know many people who are very allergic to animals but are completely fine around them.
One thing you can try, if you have a certain breeder in mind, is to visit their dogs with your daughter. See if she reacts to the potential parents. Since dander amounts are genetic, it should be a good indication of how she would react to the puppies

depends upon the extent of the allergy. I am VERY allergic to cat hair and dander. But I am fine with dogs of all breeds. You can be allergic to the saliva, dander, hair etc...
