Are yorkies good dogs for allergy sufferers?I suffer from allergies and when I googled "good dog for allergy sufferers" i clicked on a website with a list of dogs for people with allergies. i have always wanted a yorkie but i thought they would be bad for my allergies. i just want to know it they would be a good dog choice and if not then what are some other dogs that may be good (please don't say poodle). Thanks

Depends. How bad are your allergies? Mild? Moderate? Severe? If you have severe allergies then no dog may be ok for you. It also depends on what you are allergic to - dander? The protein found in saliva and urine?
I suggest you speak with your allergist about anything you could take if your allergies are not sever and then start spending time with various yorkies. No one here can tell you if they will trigger a reaction or not and that goes for ALL "allergy friendly breeds"

Since you are most likely to dog dander, not fur, I suggest you consider getting a reptile as a pet.

Yorkies are supposedly good for allergy sufferers, and for some people, this is true. It depends on your allergies though. If you can find a yorkie that you can spend time with, then maybe you will have a better idea of how the dog will affect your allergies.

Why not consider getting a hairless breed? I have a Chinese Crested dog she has hair on her head ears paws and tail but none on her body, she has been my constant companion for over 9 years and I'm not reacting to her at all. She is so cute and my best buddy.
