The vet put my boxer on Z/D Ultra Dry Dog Food, is there a cheaper food that is "non-allergen"?My dog has a "borderline" case of allergies from an allergy test. We are currently trying to use the Z/D to see if his allergies can be controlled through his food. The problem is that the food is very expensive and he is still growing, even though he is already a large (but not at all fat) dog. Any ideas on another option or a place to get the Z/D much cheaper?

Thanks

I feed my allergic dog California Natural, which is low allergen. Since your dog has had an allergy test, you should know which allergens he reacts to. Read the ingredients and make sure it will work for your dog before switching and make the switch slowly to avoid gastrointestinal problems.

Most dog food that give dogs allergies is that commercial junk .....most of those foods contain large amounts of when and corn.....

and "corn" can cause serious allergies in dogs...If the food your are giving him is causing his allergies to stop then you need to continue going to your vet to buy more.

My golden retriever was allergic to starches & grains - I fed him Eagle Pack Salmon & Sardine. He did great on it. Find out what your dog is allergic to and get a food that doesn't include that in it's ingredients.
