Does anyone know about wedding titanium/stone rings( jewelry) for allergy sufferers?Does anyone know about wedding rings that are titanium on the outside and stone on the inside (against your finger) for allergy sufferers? I had a friend mention to me that he had one years back, but I can't remember which friend it was!

The problem is if you search the web for titanium and stone rings, it just comes back with lots of titanium rings with precious stone insets... What word can I use instead of "stone" to try to find a ring like this?

Thanks!

You could try searching for a jade ring, that will be all stone (jade).
But any stone ring, full or part, is likely to crack or break, can't withstand any knocks you see.
What is the allergy? The common allergy is to nickel, so 18kt gold or platinum shouldn't be a problem.
What about surgical grade stainless steel. They put that inside peoples bodies without any trouble.
The other stone is onyx (it's black), you can also get a solid band in that stone. I looked on eBay using jade band ring and onyx band ring searches.
Failing that, get a jeweler to make one!

Titanium is hypoallergenic, and is a unique color. However, while it makes pretty neat (and affordable) necklaces, bracelets or earrings, it is not suitable for rings. The problem with titanium is, if you ever broke or injured your hand, and the ring needed to be cut off, while silver, gold or platinum could be easily cut off and repaired, titanium can't be cut off. Paramedics don't have the tools to cut off titanium rings, nor do jewelers. It's rare, but people have lost a finger for this very reason (couldn't get the ring off as their finger continued swelling). It is a honest safety issue.

Beyond the safety issue, if a titanium ring was ever damaged, or needed to be sized, you'd have to buy another ring. After a few years, when its all scratched up, it cant be buffed out like other metals either. Very very few jewelers even have the equiptment to work on titanium, and even fewer will, since repairing it isn't cost-effective. If you have allergies to other metals, try platinum. I have never heard of anyone being allergic to platinum. It is more expensive, but it is also more durable, jewelers can work on and repair it, and won't irritate your finger. If platinum is out of your price range, look at stainless steel (which is hypoallergenic too). It can't be sized, buffed or repaired, but it can be cut off in case of emergency.

Many women who have this allergy go for palladium OR they go for 18K White Gold with Palladium vs. with nickel. We have done this type of work for many folks who have allergies. Most probably this will be a special order. If you have problems obtaining your setting in this metal, don't hesitate to check out http://www.whiteflash.com . Here is additional information you might find helpful in regards to care of your ring.

Good Luck!
