Asthma Info: Allergy to silver jewelery?

Asthma Info edited the following:

Allergy to silver jewelery?I don't think I have an allergy to silver because I've worn silver jewelery in the past but I recently bought a relatively "cheaper" silver ring stamped with 925 but after wearing it constantly for about a week I've gotten strange little itchy bumps on the sides of my finger but not the front or back. It's not a rash so I'm not sure if I should still get a doctor to look at it or should I just leave it for a few days..?

Thanks!

Its because the jewelry is not pure silver. It might have some nickel alloy or other metals that you are allergic to. I myself am allergic to this, and if I wear a necklace or bracelet that is made of a metal other than pure silver or gold, I get itchy bumps around it. If I take it off for a length of time, it will go away. Its not worth going to the doctor for because it will happen as long as you wear the ring. I suggest you buy pure silver jewelery from now on, but if you purchase some kind of metal that touches your skin that isn't, coat the part that will touch your skin with clear nail polish. It will stop it from irritating it.

I think your skin is has not yet adapted the new silver you bought... just leave it a couple of days... den if it persist then your skin is not compatible w/ that kind of silver

You have contact dermatitis from nickel. Your ring is probably made from a nickel silver alloy. There is nickel also in white gold and 9K gold.
